Coco Welcomes New Board Members

Coco Coalition will be 7 this year! And we are grateful to announce another amazing group of leaders that will continue to support our mission. This new group is extra special, as Coco is working through a 3-year strategic plan, that will lead us in to our 10 year anniversary! They are already knocking out goals. Meet our board below.


President


Sandra Davidson is the Founder and CEO of The Fund Collaborative, a consulting group that helps nonprofit organizations secure funding through grant writing, major gift cultivation, and strategic partnerships in California, Nevada, and Texas. She takes a results-driven approach to nonprofit fund development, focusing on building sustainable funding streams and increasing organizations' community impact. Sandra is dedicated to working with diverse teams to develop strategies that align with each organization's mission and goals. She holds a Juris Doctor from Western State College of Law, a Master of Social Work from the University of South Carolina, and a Bachelor of Social Work from Bennett College for Women. Sandra is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Junior League of Orange County, the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and the Grant Professionals Association. Outside work, she enjoys mentoring emerging nonprofit leaders, exploring new places, and creating meaningful memories.


Vice President


Krystle Hemmings has been a member of the Coco Board of Directors since 2022. Her journey with Coco began in 2018 when she attended one of their wellness events, sparking a deep connection with their mission. Krystle’s career has revolved around creating meaningful change through compelling storytelling. She started out as a grant writer which has since evolved into her current role in communications and marketing. Outside of her professional life, Krystle loves spending time with her toddler, preteen, and husband. She also enjoys diving into a good book, embracing the tranquility of yoga, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.


Secretary

Alexus Hubert is a dedicated nonprofit professional, a proud mother and daughter, and a creative—each of which fuels her passion for making a lasting impact in the communities she is part of. With a deep commitment to creating meaningful change, she pours her energy into projects that align with her values and mission.

Originally from Memphis, TN, Alexus carries the spirit of her hometown wherever she goes, bringing a unique perspective to every initiative she engages with. A graduate of the University of San Francisco, she has cultivated both a strong academic foundation and a creative approach to problem-solving.

Her journey is driven by the belief that every effort, big or small, contributes to a more vibrant, inclusive future. She is excited to be working alongside the incredible team at COCO Coalition, where together, they strive to empower and uplift others.


Treasurer


Mary Robinson Carter brings over a decade of financial expertise and community service to the Coco Coalition Board. As a Vice President, Wealth Management Advisor and President of the Washington D.C. Chapter of the Women's Exchange at Merrill, she specializes in helping clients navigate complex financial decisions and build sustainable wealth strategies. Mary has demonstrated a deep commitment to women's empowerment through her volunteer work teaching financial education and wealth planning courses to underrepresented women re-entering the workforce. Her extensive community service includes long-term volunteering with the Ronald McDonald House, Together We Bake, and various initiatives supporting the unhoused population in the D.C. metropolitan area. As a Board Member, Mary combines her financial acumen with her passion for improving black women's access to mental health and educational resources. She resides in Fort Washington, MD, with her husband Brandon Carter, where she remains active in her local community and church outreach programs.



Board Member


Elvira DeCuir brings a wealth of experience and passion to their role as a board member for Coco Coalition. With a background in the private corporate sector, Elvira has spent 22 years dedicated to advancing initiatives within mortgage financing, sales, retail, B2B, operations, and HR sectors.


In her career, Elvira has successfully led high-performing teams, developed and implemented strategic programs, and driven impactful changes that led to increased operational efficiencies and achieving strategic business goals and outcomes. She has a proven track record in influential and thought leadership, strategic thinking and planning, facilitation, consulting, change management, project management, problem solving, process improvement, communication, and operational efficiency. Her work is characterized by innovation, collaboration, relationship-building, and commitment to excellence.


Beyond their professional contributions, Elvira is passionate about education and development achieving H.S. Valedictorian, B.S. Marketing & Management, Communications minor, and MBA with HRMT concentration. A SoCal native currently residing in DFW, Elvira enjoys spending time with her husband, two boys, family, and friends. In her spare time she enjoys hobbies like traveling, cooking, wine tasting, artistic projects, decorating, reading, shopping, outdoors, singing and dancing, roller skating, and learning new things! 


Elvira is excited to bring her skills and dedication to the board and looks forward to driving meaningful impact for the organization and community we serve.
